I have purchased parts from Jegs for over twenty years. On three separate occasions within the last 9 months (give or take) I have ordered NEW parts from Jegs from their online catalog and have received used, bent, damaged, scratched or old stock (mismatched from new stock, boxes so old the dye in the lettering of the manuf.'s product had faded.

1) Ordered a NEW Jegs brand brake proportioning valve among a slew of other items. The item package was bent up and looked used. When I removed the plastic covering brake fluid poured out. The enclosed sticker and the directions were wet and basically worthless. I didn't need the directions, but still!

2) Ordered four NEW Jegs Sport Star 5 spoke rims (15 x 8 and 15 x 4). One 4 inch rim was an obvious used item. Different packaging from the other three. No protection for the rim. On inspection I found the rim to be bent in two places (outside bead) and severely scratched up on the interior hub area. The center cap was also severely damaged. Customer service made it right and delivered a new wheel and picked up the damaged wheel at no cost to me.

After having lodged the complaint for Jegs sending me used parts (prop. valve and used and damaged wheel) and a friendly threat about going to Summit for future purchases, I placed another order a few weeks later.

3) I ordered two more 15 x 8s with a different backset. Order was perfect, all new with Jegs standard wheel protection. No problem!

4) A couple of weeks later I ordered two NEW mufflers (header bolt on type). What I received was one new one and one used one. I opened the one that looked used first. The manuf.'s product box was severely bent up, the dye in the product's graphics was extremely faded and in general looked OLD. I opened the box and the muffler was bubble wrapped and taped. The paint was scrapped off the muffler inlet tube at the flange and the bubble wrap had been on the muffler so long that the paint on the muffler had taken on the look of the bubble wrap. The purple paint on the muffler was also faded.

I opened the other box, which was stapled shut from the manuf. looked new and was in good shape. The dye on the graphics looked as it should. Bright! When opened the NEW muffler was encased in a plastic bag, as it should have been. Not bubble wrap. The paint on the new muffler did not match the USED one nor was the paint stained or discolored from a dirty piece of bubble wrap.

I will not be contacting customer service about the mufflers as I will be modifying them. But nevertheless, I paid full price for NEW items, I did not pay discounted prices for OLD USED MISMATCHED items.

Third time is the charm Jegs!! I warned you! I have unsubscribed from their daily emails, threw out their catalogs and will not be ordering from them in the future. Summit Racing (Ga.) is less than 30 minutes from my house. They have never shipped me a used part when I have ordered online.

I would say that shipping used and or returned items as new is a sure sign that Jegs may be in financial trouble.
